The model and its roots.

The Coral Coquina is inspired by the all-coralstone home Oscar de la Renta built at Punta Cana, whose stone and coral work came from Miguel H. Peña’s father. This concept carries that family connection into a new architectural study; it is not a reproduction of that residence.

The concept explores a two-story villa, columned verandas and coral-stone surfaces. Room counts, dimensions, structure and a floor plan will be developed for your project; these images are not permit or construction drawings.

What is coral stone?

Often called coralina, Caribbean coral stone is a natural limestone containing fossilized marine material. Stone quarried in the Dominican Republic is used for architectural finishes, paving and masonry details. Its pale tones, pores and fossil patterns vary from piece to piece.

“Coral Coquina” is the concept’s name, not a stone specification. The selected material, finish and installation must be evaluated for each application, especially exterior exposure in the Carolinas. The stone finish does not determine the home’s structural system.
